Still in the Business of Doing Miracles

Well, recently I have been doing a Bible Study with some friends of mine about having faith and praying with faith. Lately we have been discussing why we don't often see miracles in our culture. So, I have started praying and asking God for things that I normally woudln't "bother" Him with.

It was just about a week ago when our computer started to fail. The two parts that needed to be replaced (the motherboard and the processor) would not be a cheap fix, and they needed to be done very soon for Alex to complete his classwork before the end of his semester.

Me and my friend Amy started to pray that God would supernaturally provide the money to buy the parts or that the computer would be "restored." I am happy to report that the computer has been RESTORED!!! It is no longer broken and Alex can do his schoolwork.

Why would God care that our computer worked? Why would he decide to show his power in this way? I am not sure, but I surely am VERY GRATEFUL THAT HE DID!

PRAISE GOD and all glory HIM!

What could you trust Him with today?

Domestic Bliss

Well hello again. I am trying to get better at this whole blogging bit, but after nearly two years I am wondering if I really will be more frequent a blogger. Hey, practice makes perfect, right?

Well, I am slowly finding that our house is turning more and more sustainable as the days and weeks go by. How? You may wonder. Well, my brother Dave is really great. He has been my inspiration and a great help with my various gardening endeavors. He lives a few hours away from us and was coming to visit for the Easter holiday, and brought with him a whole bunch of blackberry shoots for blackberry bushes that he had harvested. Then when he came over he helped me and Alex clear out the area behind our fence and plant them there. How cool is my brother? SO, we are hoping that the plants will take and make a delicious border along our back fence. Pies and jams here we come!

The other recent addition to the back yard garden is a lemon tree that I bought for $4. Granted it is very small still, having only cost $4. But it seems to be taking to our back yard very nicely. I just hope that it will grow enough this year to fruit next year. I am thinking about putting some citrus fertilizer down in the soil by it and our orange tree. My next planned acquisitions are a bannana tree and maybe a lime/lemon/orange hybrid tree. Believe it or not all three of those fruits are all grafted onto one stalk and they all grow separately. Isn't that wild?

My newest kitchen adventure is to make my own yogurt. It is really ridiculously easy, just some powdered milk, some warm water, a few tablespoons of active yogurt bought from the store and a heating pad and I have a quart of plain yogurt to cook with, make smoothies or just enjoy with some fresh fruit or preserves. I will post the link in case you would like to give it a try. Very inexpensive, but very tasty!

This is a very interesting mint plant that we put in our back yard. This particular variety is called Pineapple Mint because the mint does have a slight pineapple flavor to it. A little further over, but not in this picture is a spearmint plant which is doing ok. I had planted a Chocolate Mint plant in the corner, but it died for reasons I can't quite figure out yet. So I replaced it with a rosemary plant. Posted by Picasa

I have been meaning to post a picture of my garden for a while, so here it is!! Closest to you in this picture is a row of corn and green beans, and then the next two rows are tomatoes and one green pepper. I am still working on planting the one remaining row. Posted by Picasa

Alex's sisters Adele and Evangeline came for a visit last weekend. We had a lot of fun!

Here is a cargo plane at the air show. It looks like it is blowing up but really, the smoke is coming from behind it where a fighter jet was doing some simulated bombing runs....but doesn't it look cool? Posted by Picasa

Here Alex and I are at a local air show earlier in the month. It was lots of fun! We were able to see all sorts of planes on display as well as watch the Air Force Thunderbirds perform aerobatics! Posted by Picasa
