Why you should consider cancelling AIM
It pains me to say this, especially as a hopeless AOL Instant Messenger addict in college, but I ran accross an article this evening that concerns me and Alex. Please take a moment and click to following link and read the story. Perhaps you too will re-assess your dependence on this form of communication. Your private business could become everyone's public business with the click of a button. AIM has reseved the rights to anythign that is sent accross its system. That means that anything you send, any personal message, any original works, any private photographs and sound files all can be legally used by AIM for whatever purposes they want without having to get your permission or give you any royalties. Think this is crazy? How often do you actually read the terms of service when you install a new program? Most people just click by it because they assume that it will be reasonable. Obviously this is not reasonable, but if you aren't careful you may have already given away your privacy.
